BERCO Deutschland - Special Machines and Equipment
BERCO, a member of theThyssenKrupp AG group, has been producing high-grade track systems and track system components for chain driven construction machines for 90 years. Special machines and equipment are used in the four Northern Italy plants, where even the heaviest mining products of first-class quality are manufactured.
- BERCO operates the world's biggest screw press. This massive machine with a rated capacity of 32 000 t (corresponds to the mass of the television tower in Berlin) towers 16 m above the floor and is anchored to an underground reinforced steel concrete foundation with a side length of 10 m. The press makes it possible to forge even the heaviest drive sprockets, chain links and rollers for machines used in open cast mining. The „Müller-Weingarten“ screw press line also includes a carousel furnace, three pre-forming and trimming presses as well as four handling robots.
- But the BERCO production machines and equipment are not only "up front" in respect of size and power. The furnaces for case hardening of chain bushings reach temperatures up to 1.010° C; temperatures never previously achieved. The result is that hardening depths of up to 5 mm are accomplished, thus greatly enhancing the bushings' resistance to wear.
- The BERCO 4-spindle ring roller plant is also unique. The line produces drive sprocket blanks in a single operation with no additional heating between the two rolling operations.
- The creep-feed deep grinding machine, which simultaneously processes four chain links, not only shortens delivery and production times considerably but also greatly reduces energy consumption in manufacturing.
- An in-house water treatment plant processing waste water biologically oxidative is environment-friendly.
